Cold weather 'could damage cars'

The threat of damage caused to vehicles by the predicted cold weather could prompt drivers to check their car insurance provides the necessary cover.

According to Car Parts Direct, thousands of vehicles across the country will fail to start when drivers attempt to return to work on January 5th.

Flat batteries and frozen cooling systems are expected to be the main culprits, while it is possible the expected frost could also do damage to radiators, hoses and water pumps.

And drivers who do manage to get their engines running may still experience problems, as wiper blades may split in the cold weather.
