The introduction of new, up-to-date guidelines for consumer protection of travellers in Europe could be good news for Brits taking out holiday insurance and heading abroad.
Frances Tuke, spokesperson for ABTA - The Travel Association, said that in recent years, there have been significant gaps in the protection offered by legislation and this move by the European Commission will hopefully plug some of these holes.
She commented: "The current Package Travel Directive is outdated, has confusing terminology and is unhelpful for consumers and the industry alike.
