Road safety on the school run is not just about driving carefully, but is also about parking in the right place, according to Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
The police force explains that parking on corners, on double yellow lines or close to the school gate itself can obstruct other motorists' view of the road.
In turn, this can present an increased danger to pupils as they try to cross the road to walk home or reach their own parents' car.
Police Community Support Officer Mike Benfield says: "Some parents tend to leave their cars on pavements or double yellow lines.
