Healthcare in Libya

The healthcare services in Libya are to a much lower standard than in the UK, and in remote areas it can be hard to find any healthcare services at all.

It can sometimes be the case that the hospitals/clinics have shortages of skilled personnel and medical supplies, particularly for some chronic medical conditions such as diabetes. So, it’s important to make sure you take any prescription medication that you might need while abroad and to purchase adequate medical travel insurance including repatriation, so you can rest assured knowing you’re covered.

It’s also important to remember to speak to your GP at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to travel to check whether there are any vaccinations or other preventatives needed.
