Planning to push your limits on your next trip? Whether you’re skydiving over the Swiss Alps, white-water rafting in Costa Rica, or bungee jumping in New Zealand, some adventures come with more risk, and that’s where extreme sports travel insurance comes in.
Our specialist cover is designed to protect you during high-adrenaline activities, with options to suit thrill-seekers of all levels. From emergency medical care to repatriation and lost equipment, we’ll help make sure you’re covered when it matters most. So you can focus on the fun, not the fallout.
What is ‘adventure’ or ‘extreme sports’ travel insurance?
Normally, travel insurance will cover you for any injury or illness that happens as a result of the activity. Some may also include cover for sports equipment, or public liability if you were to damage any people or property whilst taking part.
At InsureandGo we think travel insurance should be available to as many people as possible, even people who want to jump out of a plane, swim with sharks, or do all sorts of other extreme activities on their holidays. So, we offer specific hazardous activities cover as a policy add-on for those wanting a little bit more than our standard insurance, which by the way already covers over 100 amazing sports and activities!
All of our travel insurance policies include automatic cover for over 100 sports and activities, so you might find you’re covered already with us. But if not, check below for some of the other, more extreme activities we cover:
Take a look in our policy documents for a full list of the hazardous activities we cover from A to Z, along with their related medical excesses. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for – just contact us to find out if we can help you!
What else are you covered for with adventure travel insurance?
Which policies can I add adventure travel insurance to?
Any of them! The add on can be added whatever your destination – whether you’re staying in the UK, need European cover, or even Australia travel insurance.
It’s quick and easy to get travel insurance with adventure sports cover.
1.Tell us about your holiday
Let us know about the activities you have planned. Tell us who you want to cover, and when you want the policy to start. We will also ask you about any pre-existing medical conditions.
You can do this online now or by calling our team:
Once we have all the details we need, we will send you your quote. At this stage, you can buy your policy or save the quote for later.
Our experts say…
“Extreme sports offer the ultimate adrenaline rush, but they also come with greater risks. From high-speed descents to remote locations, accidents can happen when you push your limits. Medical emergencies and emergency evacuation can be costly. Extreme sports travel insurance helps ensure you’re fully protected, and it can also cover cancellations if something unexpected forces a change of plan.”
What counts as an extreme sport in travel insurance?
Extreme sports generally involve a higher level of risk than standard holiday activities. This includes things like skydiving, bungee jumping, white-water rafting, mountaineering, paragliding, and off-piste skiing. Check our full list when getting a quote to see what’s included.
Do I need extra cover for extreme sports?
Yes, while our standard policies include cover for over 100 activities, more dangerous or high-risk sports usually require an extreme or adventure sports add-on. Just let us know what you’re planning, and we’ll help you choose the right level of cover.
Am I covered if I take part in an extreme sport spontaneously?
Only if the activity is listed in your policy. If you think you might try something adventurous on your trip, it’s best to add the extreme sports upgrade just in case.
Are professional or competitive sports covered in extreme sports travel insurance?
No, our policies don’t cover professional participation or competitions. Cover is designed for recreational or non-competitive activities only.
Who can buy an InsureandGo extreme sports travel insurance policy?
Our extreme sports insurance policies are available to UK residents. This means:
Someone who has been living in the UK or the Channel Islands for at least six of the last 12 months
