Planning the holiday of a lifetime? With our worldwide travel insurance, you can explore further worry-free, whether you’re trekking through temples, relaxing on tropical beaches, or ticking off once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Getting covered with InsureandGo is quick and easy, so you can focus on making memories, not worrying about the what-ifs.
What is worldwide travel insurance, and do you need it?
Worldwide travel insurance is your safety net for dream getaways. So, if you’re sightseeing in Seattle, backpacking in Bali, or soaking up the sun on a Caribbean beach, you enjoy every moment knowing you’re covered for the unexpected. It covers you for everything from a medical emergency to a lost bag, wherever your journey takes you.
Still not sure whether you need cover for your own jet-setting adventure? Here’s why worldwide travel insurance is every bit as essential as your passport:
Get support if things don’t go to plan: From help with medical emergencies to help dealing with a stolen passport, insurance is vital if things go wrong abroad. With worldwide travel insurance from InsureandGo, our 24-hour emergency assistance team is just a phone call away, day or night.
It covers you for delays and cancellations: Should you experience a hiccup in your itinerary that’s covered by your policy, you won’t be left out of pocket.
It covers expensive medical care: Healthcare abroad can be very expensive, so much so that the UK government advises at least £2 million of medical cover when travelling to the USA, which is considered to have the most expensive healthcare in the world. Luckily, our policies start at £5 million.
Some countries won’t let you in without it: From the UAE to the Seychelles, certain holiday destinations have made worldwide travel insurance mandatory, and you won’t set foot into the country without it.
Covers all destinations: Many insurers may say they provide worldwide travel insurance, but when you read the small print, you realise that some destinations have been excluded. InsureandGo’s policies can cover all destinations.
We strive to provide as much cover as possible. However, there are some situations that no travel insurance will cover. For example:
You cannot cover events or reasons to claim that took place before you booked the trip or purchased insurance. Insurance exists to cover unexpected events outside of the insured’s control
Claims which are less than the excess for that section of cover. For example, you cannot claim a £40 lost item if your baggage excess is £60
All of our travel insurance policies include cover for cancellation of your trip, but there may be some exclusions. For example, you won’t be covered to cancel if you simply decide not to go
We will consider all pre-existing medical conditions. Find out more about our medical travel insurance and how we can help you travel stress-free. The excess and the amount of cover available will vary depending on the level of travel insurance you buy. To check the policy exclusions and what is and isn’t included, take a look at our policy wording.
The best worldwide holiday insurance for your trip
Our worldwide travel insurance gives you cover that’s tailored to your holiday plans. With our flexible plans, you can add or take away extras to suit the activities you’re doing on your trip, saving you time and money.
Cruises: If your worldwide trip involves sailing the seas, adding specialist cruise cover to your policy covers you for things like cabin confinement and onboard illnesses. Our cruise insurance has no upper age limit, and we’ll consider any medical condition.
USA and the Americas: Whether you’re road-tripping around the States, sightseeing in Canada or relaxing on a beach in Mexico or the Caribbean, with our annual policies, you can include cover to the USA and the Americas.
Family: Worldwide family travel insurance keeps things simple, providing cover for each of you all under the same policy.
Hiking: While any travel insurance policy from InsureandGo covers you for hiking up to 3,000 metres altitude, if you’re heading higher, don’t worry. Choose our hazardous activities add-on when you buy your policy, and we can cover trekking between 3,000 and 6,000 metres.
Golf: Tee off on some of the best greens in the world. Adding golf cover to your policy covers your golf equipment and your green fees, even if you’re golfing for your entire trip.
Gadget cover: Taking more gadgets than your standard policy will cover? Add extra protection for valuable electronics and precious items like musical instruments or bikes with our easy-to-add gadget cover.

Which destinations are covered by our Worldwide travel insurance?
Many insurance providers may say they offer worldwide holiday insurance, but when you read the small print, you realise that some destinations have been excluded.
If you’re planning a one-off trip, you can let us know the country or countries you’ll be travelling to. If you’re buying an annual policy, then we group the destinations into four areas:
Europe (plus all countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, plus Madeira and the Azores)
Worldwide (except the USA, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean)
Worldwide
If you’re not sure which area your chosen holiday destinations would be in, please contact us.
Worldwide travel insurance with pre-existing medical conditions
Securing travel insurance for medical conditions can be a concern, but there’s no need to worry. We’ll consider any medical condition and do our best to provide the best possible cover. Just follow our simple online screening process when you buy your policy, either over the phone or online.
Examples of medical conditions we can cover include:
There’s so much to think about when you’re planning a holiday of a lifetime. Luckily, sorting out your worldwide travel insurance is quick and easy with InsureandGo.
1. Tell us about your trips
This includes who you want to cover and when you want the policy to start. You will need to declare any pre-existing medical conditions to ensure you get the right level of cover.
It’s quick and easy to give us this information, either online or by calling our team:
Once we have all the details we need, we will show you your quote. At this stage, you can buy your policy or save the quote for later.
Our experts say…
“When you’re travelling worldwide, travel insurance is a must. Whether it’s a visit to somewhere with expensive healthcare, like the USA, or a destination that won’t let you in without travel insurance, like Jordan, it’s important to make sure you’re covered for your trip. InsureandGo makes it quick and easy to add flexible cover for your trip so you can just look forward to your holiday.”
How long will worldwide travel insurance cover you for?
How long you’re covered depends on whether you choose to take out a single trip or annual policy for your worldwide travel.
Single triptravelinsurance can cover you for a holiday of up to 365 days in length.
Annual travel insurance will give you cover for multiple trips over a whole year. You can take as many trips as you like, with each trip being up to:
31 days away for Budget policies
45 for Silver and Gold
55 days abroad for Black
How much does worldwide travel insurance cost?
How much you pay for your worldwide policy depends on where you’re going and what you plan to do when you get there. Things that can affect the cost of your policy include:
Your choice of destination – Worldwide policies that include the USA (along with Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean) tend to cost more due to the higher cost of medical expenses in these areas
The level of cover you require – Do you want extra protection for your gadgets or golf?
The amount of time you’ll be away – Longer trips may increase the cost, especially if you’re travelling for several months.
Your age and any medical conditions you have declared – These help us tailor the policy to suit your needs and ensure you’re fully protected
No matter where you’re heading, we’ll help you find the right level of cover, so you can travel stress-free.
What is the age limit on worldwide travel insurance policies?
Please note: We’re unable to offer winter sports cover for travellers over the age of 65.
Will my GHIC cover me worldwide?
Not quite. Despite the name, the Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) only provides cover in Europe. It’s valid in EU countries, plus a few others, including Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Montenegro, but it won’t cover you worldwide.
If you’re heading beyond Europe, you’ll need travel insurance to make sure you’re properly protected.
Is it best to buy a single or an annual multi-trip policy for my global trip?
The best option for you depends on your travel plans during the next 12 months.
If you’re travelling the world, you might want to be away for longer than usual. Our single trip policies can cover you for a one-off holiday of up to 365 days in length, making it a great option for extended travel. Adding optional extras like golf, lets you tailor your cover to meet your specific needs on that one-off occasion.
If you are going on holiday multiple times throughout the year, an annual policy could be better value for you.
With an annual policy, you can travel as many times as you like within 12 months, saving you time and money. There are, however, limits on the number of days you can be away for any one trip. You can be away for 31 days for Budget policies, 45 for Silver and Gold, and 55 days abroad for Black.
Does worldwide travel insurance cover the UK?
Planning a staycation as part of your global adventure? All our policies cover trips within the UK, provided you have booked overnight accommodation.
When does the worldwide travel insurance cover begin?
Full benefits of your worldwide travel Insurance policy start on the travel dates you have selected. However, all InsureandGo policies include cover for travel cancellation, which protects you against losses if you have to cancel your trip.
If you buy a single trip policy, cover for holiday cancellation starts from the date you book your trip or pay the insurance premium, whichever is later (a good reason not to leave buying insurance until the last minute!).
If you’ve got an annual multi-trip policy, cover for cancellation starts either at the time you book your trip or the start date shown on your insurance certificate, whichever is later.
If, due to unexpected circumstances that are beyond your control, you can’t finish your holiday within the period of insurance, we’ll extend your cover for up to 30 days, at no extra cost.
Does worldwide travel insurance include Covid cover?
Yes, it does. Any policy you buy from our website includes the level of Covid cover set out on our Coronavirus Travel Insurance page, and you’ll also find it in our policy wordings. It doesn’t matter whether you buy a single trip policy or annual multi-trip cover for your worldwide trip.
Who can buy an InsureandGo worldwide travel insurance policy?
All our UK travel insurance policies are available to UK residents. This means:
Someone who has been living in the UK or the Channel Islands for at least six of the last 12 months
