Do I need a visa for Colombia?

If you’re planning on going to Colombia for less than 90 days then you can enter as a visitor without a visa at the discretion of the Colombian Immigration Office upon arrival. If you’re wanting to go to Colombia for longer than 90 days, then you may be able to extend your stay by speaking to the immigration office, Migración Colombia.

Healthcare in Colombia

Public and private healthcare centres are available for tourists in Colombia. The standards of the healthcare facilities vary depending on where you’re travelling to in Colombia – larger cities generally have good quality facilities, whereas in smaller towns they are to a much lower standard and aren’t always well funded, so the facilities are usually quite poor. It’s important to make sure you have the right travel insurance that includes reliable medical cover, so you know you’re covered should anything happen.

Make sure you speak to your GP at least four to six weeks prior to travel, to find out whether there are any vaccinations or other preventatives needed.

• The Las Lajas in Colombia was built because of an old legend. An Amerindian woman was travelling with her deaf and blind daughter when they were suddenly caught in a horrific storm. The mother carried her daughter and found shelter in a cave. The mother then looked up, and saw the image of the Virgin Mary on the rocks above, at that moment, the woman’s daughter was cured of her inability to hear and speak. The Cathedral sits 150 feet above the river below, and looks pretty spectacular.
• What’s the first thing you think about when you think of Colombia? That’s right, birds. There are around 1,897 species found in Colombia, more than anywhere in the world.
• There’s nothing like dunking a biscuit into a cup of tea, but in Colombia, that biscuit is in fact cheese, and the hot beverage is actually hot chocolate. Yum!
