Healthcare in Ethiopia

Public and private healthcare services are available in Ethiopia. However, the standards of the public healthcare services are quite poor, whereas the private hospitals offer a reasonable standard of basic care. Make sure you have adequate medical travel insurance in place, so you can rest assured knowing you’re covered if anything happens.

It’s important to make sure you speak to your GP at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to travel to check whether there are any vaccinations or other preventatives needed.
