As long as you have booked accommodation for a minimum of two nights, our UK travel insurance will cover you. Our UK travel insurance policies will not cover:

Emergency medical expenses, if you have access to free healthcare under the NHS
Find out about our optional add-ons for activities like extreme sports and golf.

Travel insurance for the UK with pre-existing medical condition cover
We will consider all medical conditions for our UK travel insurance policies and have no upper age limit. When you get a quote, we will ask you a few simple questions about your health. These may lead to a medical screening process where we ask for further details.
Remember, UK travel insurance will not cover you for emergency medical care if you’re holidaying somewhere where you are a resident. However, you must still notify us of any pre-existing medical conditions before you buy a policy. This ensures you are covered for cancellation or curtailment if you need to change your plans due to your medical condition.
You will be covered for emergency medical care if you’re visiting a place outside your home country. For instance, if you’re a UK resident visiting the Channel Islands, or from Jersey and visiting the UK. You must declare your pre-existing medical conditions when buying your policy to make sure you’re covered for emergency medical costs in these cases.
Make sure you read our policy wording to understand what is and isn’t covered when buying insurance for pre-existing medical conditions.
How to book travel insurance for the UK
It’s quick and easy to get travel insurance for UK holidays:
1. Tell us a little information about your trip, who you want to cover and any pre-existing medical conditions
You can do this online now or by calling our team:
We’ll show you your quote, then all you have to do is decide if you want to buy it now or save it for later.
Our experts say…
“As a UK resident, you might think you don’t need travel insurance for UK trips, as medical care will be free on the NHS. However, a policy could cover you for other situations faced on holidays. Whether your bag is stolen, you have to cancel your trip or you face legal costs from an accident, our UK travel insurance policies could help you avoid big unexpected bills.”
“The agent was able to explain how our trip to the Scilly Isles would be covered by a Curtailment clause in the event that ferry crossings were cancelled due to bad weather for more than 24 hours! Very helpful and clear.”
It isn’t compulsory to buy UK travel insurance; however, it can offer a range of benefits to help you if something goes wrong on your holiday. This includes cover for cutting short your trip for certain reasons, or replacing belongings that are damaged or stolen. UK travel insurance can help cover costs that would otherwise leave you facing high bills yourself.
Do you need a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) to holiday in the UK?
It is sensible to apply for a GHIC card if you are visiting any of the places covered by the scheme, where you are not a resident. However, it is still recommended that you buy travel insurance. The GHIC scheme will not cover all medical expenses or medical repatriation. Plus travel insurance will also cover you for other things going wrong, such as cancellation of your trip or your bag being stolen.
How much is travel insurance for the UK?
UK travel insurance is normally cheaper than insurance for trips outside of the country. Factors that may affect price include:
How long your trip will be
The level of policy cover you choose
Any add ons you pick, for instance cover for extreme sports
Travel insurance for the UK isn’t mandatory, however, it comes with a whole range of benefits if you do purchase it. We offer a variety of policies to choose from, including:
Do you need travel insurance for Jersey from the mainland UK?
Yes, you do. While Jersey feels close to home, it isn’t part of the UK and isn’t covered by the NHS. That means if you need medical treatment while you’re there, you could end up facing unexpected costs.
Travel insurance for Jersey gives you peace of mind by covering medical expenses, trip cancellations, lost luggage, and more. So you can explore the island’s beaches, coastal paths and charming towns without a worry.
Does UK travel insurance cover camping and festivals?
Yes, our travel insurance UK policies cover you if you have booked to go camping and have to cancel for certain reasons. The costs of your pre-booked pitch/accommodation will be covered. However, baggage left unattended in a tent cannot be covered if it is damaged, lost or stolen. Read our policy wording for full details.
Note: Festival tickets cannot be covered as the pitches are not pre-arranged.
Who can buy an InsureandGo UK travel insurance policy?
All our UK travel insurance policies are available to UK residents. This means:
Someone who has been living in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands for at least six of the last 12 months
Has a permanent UK address and is registered with a UK GP
