Whether you're going on a one-off holiday or a business trip, our single trip travel insurance could be the ideal choice. It offers great, simple cover for anything from a short UK break to a year of travelling around the world.
Single trip travel insurance is what most people need for a one-off holiday or business trip. Typically, single trip travel insurance policies will cover most standard travel issues such as injury and illness, theft of possessions and holiday cancellations. But most companies, including us, will allow you to upgrade and tailor a policy to suit your specific needs.
If you’re likely to go on more than one holiday in the same year, then choosing an annual multi-trip policy may be more suitable, saving you time and money.
We have no upper age limit for single trip travel insurance. We can even cover children for free when they travel with you.
If you’re aged 66 or over when you buy your insurance, we can cover you for up to 31 days per trip. This is usually more than enough for most holidays, but if you’re planning a longer stay then just get in touch so we can provide you with a bespoke policy.
If you’re over the age of 90, then we need to speak to you on the phone in order to tailor a policy specifically to your requirements, medical or otherwise. Please call us on +44 (0)330 400 1235 for a quote. Otherwise, simply buy online.
Our single trip travel insurance policies will cover you for up to 365 days per trip whether you choose our Budget, Silver, Gold or Black insurance packages.
If you’re travelling for over 365 days, give our backpackers insurance a try. It can cover trips of up to 18 months in length.
But don’t forget that we can only cover you for up to 31 days if you’re aged 66 or over.
Do I need single trip medical cover when I have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)?
The EHIC (which used to be called the E111) entitles the holder to medical treatment at the same price as the residents within EU countries. This often means either free of reduced costs. It may not always provide sufficient cover, however. For example, if you’re taken to a private clinic in a private ambulance, you won’t be covered. The EHIC also doesn’t cover the cost of repatriation if you need to be flown back to the UK due to accident or illness. For these reasons, it’s advisable to take out adequate travel insurance as well.
Can I get single trip travel insurance if I have a pre-existing medical condition?
Many pre-existing medical conditions can be declared when buying travel insurance. You’ll then have the choice to either exclude this and possible related conditions from the policy, or pay a premium to have them covered. You won’t be able to claim for any declared and excluded pre-existing medical conditions where cover cannot be provided or if you’ve chosen not to pay the premium to provide cover. Read our policy documents or have a look at our page on travel insurance for pre-existing medical conditions for more information.
