Tunisia is a treasure trove of experiences waiting to be discovered. Dreaming of wandering through the ancient ruins of Carthage? Or maybe some time to soak up the sun on Hammamet’s pristine beaches? Wherever your adventure takes you, be sure you take us with you.
Our Tunisia travel insurance covers all the essentials. From medical emergencies to lost belongings, trip cancellations, and delays. We’ve got you covered. With InsureandGo, you can focus on enjoying all Tunisia has to offer.
What is Tunisia travel insurance, and do you need It?
Tunisia welcomes some 8.8 million visitors. And that figure is increasing annually. It’s no wonder, as Tunisia is a truly breathtaking country. From the golden beaches of Djerba to the ancient ruins of El Dje. Tunisia has something for everyone.
To experience this to the full, having the right travel insurance is a must. Here are a few reasons why:
Covers healthcare costs. Tunisia’s healthcare system is one of the most developed in Africa, with areas such as Tunis and Sfax being particularly well-respected. However, all doctors’ fees, medication and treatment in private clinics must be paid for on the spot. Sometimes, even before treatment. These costs can be high. With Tunisia travel insurance, you’re covered for these expenses. Gov.uk also recommends you have adequate travel health insurance before your trip.
Covers lost or stolen belongings. The UK Foreign Office believes most of the country is safe to travel to. However, it warns against travelling to areas near its borders with Libya and Algeria. In the unlikely event of robbery or items being stolen, we’ll cover the costs of replacing them. If you’re taking anything precious, gadget cover protects your valuables, up to £2,000.
Covers repatriation costs. Repatriation from Tunisia to the UK can be costly. In the unfortunate event of needing it, repatriation costs start at £2,000. With Tunisia travel insurance, the cost is covered.
Covers your essential medication. Losing or misplacing medication on holiday can become a big worry, especially in poorer parts of Tunisia, where access to Westernised healthcare is limited. With travel insurance, we will help you cover the costs of replacing it. And with our 24/7 medical helpline, we can help direct you to nearby pharmacies or medical help.
Travel delays and cancellations. None of us enjoys delays or cancellations, especially when they’re out of our control. If you have to cancel plans due to illness, an accident or something else, we can help you claim the money back.
Adventure and activity cover. Tunisia is packed with incredible experiences. Think quad biking, hot air balloon rides and diving. Our adventure and extreme sports add-ons keep you covered for all the thrills Tunisia has to offer.
Choose a policy that covers you for everything you’ve got planned. We’d also recommend you read our policy wording. This outlines exactly what’s covered and what isn’t.
Before you book, be sure to check the latest travel advice for Tunisia. Currently, FCDO advises against travelling to Western Tunisia, including the Tunisia-Algeria border.
If you travel against their advice, it may invalidate your insurance
We will consider all pre-existing medical conditions. Find out more about medical travel insurance.
The excess and amount of cover available varies depending on the level of travel insurance you buy.
Check the policy wording to see the full terms and conditions.
What’s not covered?
Each provider will have different things it can or cannot include in a policy. However, there are some situations in which travel insurance will not cover. For example:
You cannot cover events or reasons that took place before you booked the trip or purchased insurance. Insurance exists to cover unexpected events outside of the insured’s control
Claims which are less than the excess for that section of cover. For example, you cannot claim a £40 lost item if your baggage excess is £60
All of our travel insurance policies include cover for cancellation of your trip. There may, however, be some exclusions. For example, you won’t be covered to cancel if you decide not to go.

Do I need travel insurance for Tunisia?
While not a legal requirement, travel insurance remains essential, especially in Tunisia, where problems in Southern and Western Tunisia could severely disrupt your plans. If you decide to travel and experience delays or cancellations, our insurance will cover you. Plus, a GHIC card won’t cover you for private medical care, repatriation costs, or trip disruptions.
How much is travel insurance for Tunisia?
The cost of travel insurance for Tunisia depends on several factors. These include:
Your age. The older you are, the more expensive the cover becomes.
Length of stay. The longer your stay, the more expensive insurance becomes. If you’ve got multiple trips planned, multi-trip cover might be best. Plus, you’re more likely to save money with this policy.
Any pre-existing conditions. Declaring conditions like asthma or diabetes could increase the price. However, it’s worth it to make sure you’re fully covered. Knowing you’re prepared for any medical needs means you can relax and enjoy your trip!
Policy add-ons. You can also add options like gadget cover, motorcycling, or cruise insurance. Bringing some pricey tech along? Planning some water sports? Maybe even cruising from Tunisia? These add-ons can keep you covered.
Yes, in many cases, proof of travel insurance is required when applying for a visa to Tunisia. The insurance must cover medical expenses and repatriation for the duration of your stay. Even if a visa isn’t required for your nationality, having travel insurance is highly recommended.
